Understanding CustomCrete’s Limited Warranty: What’s Covered and What Isn’t

September 30, 2024

What Protection Do You Have for Your Concrete Floor?

Your concrete floor is a significant investment, and you expect it to perform well for many years to come. Whether it’s a polished concrete surface, an epoxy coating, or urethane cement, novolak, ESD, or any other service that we offer, proper installation is key to ensuring long-lasting durability.

But, as with any industrial flooring system, there’s always a possibility that things might not go according to plan. When that happens, having a clear understanding of your warranty can make all the difference in how issues are addressed and in giving you peace of mind.

At CustomCrete, we take pride in our craftsmanship and strive to exceed industry standards on every project. However, we understand that concerns about the longevity of your floor may arise, especially in high-traffic environments.

Our limited warranty offers protection in the event that something goes wrong after installation. In this article, we’ll break down exactly what our warranty covers, what it doesn’t, and why this information matters for your business.

What Does CustomCrete’s Warranty Cover?

CustomCrete’s limited warranty covers our full line of services for one year from the date of completion. During this period, we warrant that the coating will not peel or delaminate under normal conditions due to product failure. If any problems arise during this time that are related to material failure, we will repair or replace the affected area as necessary.

Our warranty is specific to the performance of the coating itself, ensuring that your floor is protected against defects in the product or workmanship that might surface early in its lifecycle.

What Does Our Warranty Not Cover?

To set proper expectations, it’s important to clarify what our warranty doesn’t cover. This helps set realistic expectations, and prevent misunderstandings and ensures that you know what situations are outside the scope of our warranty.

Normal Wear and Tear:

Every floor coating undergoes wear and tear over time, especially in demanding industrial environments. This normal wear is not covered under our warranty. Regular maintenance is essential to prolong the life of your floor, and damage caused by misuse, neglect, or improper upkeep is not warrantied.

Pre-Existing Coatings or Structural Issues:

If there was an existing coating on your concrete that we didn’t install, or if there are structural issues with the concrete itself, these factors can affect the performance of the new coating. Our warranty does not extend to issues that stem from previous installations or structural problems with the concrete slab, as these are simply beyond our control.

Vapor Transmission and Sub-Surface Contaminants:

Moisture vapor transmission and contaminants such as oils, vapor, or chemicals coming up from beneath the concrete slab can cause problems with the coating. These issues, which originate from the substrate, are not covered by our warranty. While we can address moisture mitigation and surface preparation during installation, ongoing issues from deep within the slab fall outside of the scope of our warranty.

Third-Party or Environmental Damage:

Any damage caused by actions outside of CustomCrete’s control, whether from the customer, third parties, other contractors, or unforeseen environmental factors, is not covered. Our warranty only applies to the quality of our installation and the coating itself under normal conditions.  We do not cover actions outside of our control.

Why Does Our Warranty Last Only One Year?

You may wonder why we offer a one-year warranty. The reason is born out of our extensive 20 year experience in the concrete coating industry, and that experience tells us this: if an issue is going to arise due to product failure or installation error, it will almost always happen shortly after the job is complete

Once the coating has set and the surface has been properly prepared, the likelihood of any problems occurring due to installation errors significantly diminishes to almost zero.  In short, if we mess up, you will notice almost immediately.

By offering a one-year warranty, we are confident that any defects caused by improper application or faulty materials will become apparent, and you will have ample time to take notice, contact us, so that together we can get it all sorted out. After the coating has properly cured, most, if not all, issues that arise are due to external factors, like wear and tear, rather than problems with the installation itself.

What Happens If You Need a Warranty Repair?

If a problem arises that’s covered under our warranty, contact us and we will address it in a timely manner. Our commitment is to repair or replace the affected area of the floor to ensure it meets the expected performance standards. However, it's important to note that this warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.

We also limit our liability to repairing or replacing the specific area that’s affected. CustomCrete is not responsible for consequential damages, including lost profits or downtime that may result from any issues with the coating.

How Can You Extend the Life of Your Floor Beyond the Warranty?

While our warranty offers protection for one year, maintaining your floor beyond that point is critical to ensuring its long-term durability. To keep your coating in top condition, consider regular maintenance practices such as:

  • Routine cleaning to prevent buildup of debris or contaminants.
  • Scheduling periodic inspections to identify any wear or damage early.
  • Avoiding unnecessary stress on the floor from heavy impacts or chemical exposure.

By taking these steps, you can extend the life of your floor well beyond the warranty period.
